Coming from the Pacific Northwest, the question of the importance of recycling is almost a no-brainer. Like... no duh we all see how important it is and we recycle EVERYTHING! So... I was stuck with this prompt. I felt like it was all too simple. Like trying to tell why brushing your teeth is important. Then, after some deep thoughts with my pal Trey, we got to talking about the value of the discarded trash and how, though it had fulfilled its purpose and usefulness, it was totally valuable and able to keep giving. We don't need to give up on it. Recycling is important to me because it means that we're not giving up on the world around us. It means that we're committing ourselves to making the effort of seeing what is ready to be recycled. Ready for their next chance to make fulfill their purpose.
